Sin City: A Dame to Kill For Poster and Release Date

For the longest time I didn't believe that this movie would actually happen, but now that is a teaser poster AND a release date! Yes, Robert Rodriguez did make teaser posters for his Red Sonja movie that is probably never going to get made, but for Sin City 2 he has already signed on some of the major cast. you can see, we have two wait about a year and a half for this movie to come out! But that is really no surprise since, due to the highly stylized look that it is going to have, it is probably going to be in post production forever, and they have not cast the two main roles. The first is Dwight. He was played by Clive Owen in the first Sin City movie, so you would think to have him come back. But...A Dame to Kill For takes place before Dwight got his plastic surgery, so he has a completely different face. I do think that it should still be Clive Owen, however. Because 1) I love Clive Owen and 2) Just because he would have to have a different face doesn't mean he would have a different voice. It wouldn't make sense really to have his voice be completely different, and Clive Owen has a pretty distinctive speaking voice. So, just shave his head bald, and maybe put some prosthetics on him or something.
Then of course there is the very important role of Ava Lord. I wrote a whole post about who should play her earlier and I'm still sticking with my first choice, Angelina Jolie. I really can't think of anyone who would be more perfect for this role, except for maybe Ava Gardner if we time traveled to the 50s.

My Review: Dark Shadows

I love Tim Burton movies and I love Johnny Depp. Even more than that I love Tim Burton movies that star Johnny Depp. So, I knew that I was going to like this movie before I even saw it. It also helped that this movie has the most amazing cast. Along with Depp, we have Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham Carter, Eva Green, Chloe Grace Moretz, Jackie Earle Hailey, and the angel-faced Bella Heathcote. All actors that I really like. Now that I have seen it, I was correct in assuming that I would like this movie. I thought that it was a bit slow at parts, but for the most part this movie was really fun, and was filled with amazing parts. I thought that the ghost effects were especially cool. Everytime we saw Bella Heathcote as the ghost of Josette, it was just amazing! I would watch a movie just about that character. My favorite thing about this movie, though, had to be Eva Green's performance as the witch Angelique. She stole every scene she was in and was just amazing. She is just so great at being wicked.
Everything in this movie is pretty over the top. From the make-up to the costumes to the actor's performances, it was all pretty campy, but for this movie I thought it worked and I thought that it was really cool, especially towards the end. I was kind of disappointed with Helena Bonham Carter's character, however. It kind of seemed that they just stuck her in there because she seemed pretty unimportant to the overall story. My rating: 7/10

Elijah Wood in Maniac

I am super curious to see this movie. I liked the original film, and when I heard that this movie was being remade with Elijah Wood I was more than intrigued. I loved Elijah Wood as the murderous cannibal Kevin in Sin City. I thought he was super creepy and that it was really cool to see him play a different role than what he usually plays. Sin City it was in black and white and he didn't speak at all. I'm really curious about how he will be in here. Who is going to be scared of him and his big blue Frodo eyes? I am hoping that he proves me wrong though and is really great in this role. I guess I'll have to wait and see...

Just Finished Reading: Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

I really loved this book. I started it a while ago, but then stopped reading it. Then yesterday I started over and finished it by the end of the day. I knew that the movie Blade Runner was only loosely based on this book, so I knew that it would be a lot different, but there were a few moments that were exactly the same. Like the scene where he gives the test to Racheal to see if she is an android or not (in the movie they're called replicants). It was pretty much word for word what is is in the movie. When reading this I was really trying to separate it from Blade Runner, but whenever Rick Deckart appeared in the book I couldn't not see Harrison Ford's face. And then when Roy showed up I couldn't not see Rutger Hauer. What I found to be really interesting about this book is that you could have know idea if you were an android or not. You have androids who believe that they are humans because they are imprinted with false memories. You even have humans, like the other bounty hunter who is convinced that he might be an android. In a world where robots can be implanted with false memories, how could you know for sure if you were human or not?

My Review: The Avengers

Spectacular! That is the first word that comes to mind when I think about describing this movie. Watching this at the theater was really fun! There was huge crowd (the biggest I've seen at 1:20 in the afternoon at the theater I go to) and everyone was laughing and cheering and clapping. It was amazing. You don't usually get clapping at movies, but I found myself clapping too. It was just fantastic! sum it up, this movie is about a group of superheroes who come together against Loki, the brother of Thor who has stolen this magical cube that he plans to use as a portal to another would so he can unleash all kinds of evil on Earth. There is so much going on in this movie, but that is the plot in a nutshell. For heroes we have Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and The Hulk. You would think that with this many heros, we would have a few in the forefront and the rest would be more minor characters, but they all get pretty much the same amount of screentime. Even though all of the superheros are amazing, I'm sure that everyone's favorite from this movie will end up being The Hulk. I know that he ended up being my favorite. They really should give Mark Ruffalo his own Hulk movie. I also think it would be cool for Hawkeye and Black Widow to team up for their own movie too.

There are just tons and tons of great scenes in this movie. At the beginning of the movie, the heroes are all butting heads with eachother, so we get some great fight scenes. The one with Thor and Iron Man is especially cool, and any scene with The Hulk is amazing. You literally couldn't hear the movie at all after The Hulk beat the shit out of Loki because everyone was laughing and clapping so loud. It was awesome, but I was bummed because I missed The Hulk's one line! But...I asked the people on Tumblr, and apparently he says "puny god." I might just have to see this again so I can hear for myself...or I might just have to see it five more times because of how awesome it was! My rating: 10/10
